Look,i just bought a game boy colour like 6 months ago, and all the games are like 40 $ and now its just a game boy version of the Sega Game gear, is this a rip off or what? sure its good, but why do they come out with sooooooooo many models so many times! 1) Game boy , 2) game boy pocket, 3 ) game boy pocket different colours 4) game boy colur 5) game boy advanced. and now this means that i will have to spend all more money just to get the adaptor, the magnifier, the carrying case and all the other crap. this is one big ripoff!this is just another scam for nintendo to make money!

How else do you think they've been making money off that little piece of crap for over a decade?
Nintendo has been a marketing genius when it comes to the little thing... they've squeezed so much money out of the public and now they're going to make a ton more with the Gameboy Advance.
Hey look it's the gameboy it's so cool!
Oh look here's the super gameboy, you can play gameboy games on your SNES!
Hey look, it's a color gameboy! Now you can play gameboy games in color! Well not really, all we did was change the color of the case...
Hey, it's gameboy pocket! It fits in your pocket!
Hey! It's the gameboy camera and printer! Now you can take pictures of yourself and print them!
Hey wow, now it's the gameboy color! Now you can REALLY play them in color!
Oh now we've really done it, here's the gameboy advance, now you can play 32 bit gameboy games PLUS all your old games!!
Sheesh, gimme a break....
heh i own a super gameboy :D

Ah, the Game Boy Advance is a completely differant thing to the GBC/GB. You Cannot play GBA games on a GBC.
You can however play GBC/GB games on the GBA.
The Game Boy Color is a old...stone age piece of 8-Bit hardware that can display 64 colors on the screen.
The Game Gear is an old, Z80 Processor run, 64 colors on screen max stone age piece of hardware. Which terrifingly enough cannot do some of the things that the GBC has done lately.
Sakura Taisen GBC is a GREAT example of this.
The Game Boy Advance is...well....a standard 32-bit system that can do at least 256-Colors and more. With anything the SFC/SNES could do plus more. Where is the problem?

I think Skaeleen's peed off because he put all his money
into something that will become obsolete in a year or two

GBC has been around for a while now so you'd expect it to become obsolete eventually. Besides, GBA is a huge step-up in handheld terms.

Besides, anything you buy is gonna eventually become obselete and you're gonna have to shell out for the next big thing. That's how technology IS. ESPECIALLY with game systems. It's nature.

i mostly got a gbc since so many others had it. i was a bit ticked too after getting it, i was thinking it would be around for awhile but a month later, nintendo says... heeeeeere comes the gba! screw all the color systems, buy this *new* flashy thing that everybody will soon have but you.
i have some respect for the game gear considering when they made it.... it was awesome compared to the gameboy in every respect. backlit screen was big plus in dark, and it had a color screen to boot... the reasons it didn't catch on was because it was expensive compared to gb and there weren't many good games for it. now nintendo takes the game gear frame, puts today's processor power in it and slaps some colored plastic on the sides, and we have the gba, which will sell like mad, oh yes it will because it will have all the well-known games like mario and pokemon.

Yeah but the one thing the game gear had that GBA doesn't is a backlit screen, so the ol' GG still has something on nintendo :P

i like the gamegear, although its big, i like it becuase you can use it in the car when your on a road trip at night, with nintendo, you need the magnifier-light thiing, but with the gamegear you dont. when gamegear first came out right away thoguht it was beter than the game boy... sure the gameboy is fun, but all in all the gamegear is beter to play with in the dark... and the adaptors and parts aremnt 30 $ each...

Bah. The backlit screen was about all the GG HAD going for it. Typical Sega stuff, they just put it out and proceeded to ignore it...*sigh*

i can't remember a single outstanding game for gg except the good old sonic games (basically imports from genesis). did they come out with road rash for gg? because if they did and they did it right, i'll have to check it out...

maybe they should make it smaller, put out a new like model, make better games (RPG's and stuff) and then maybe it would do much better
eh with gameboys stranglehold on the handheld market it would be a finacial risk that sega simply cant afford to make its better they just make games for the GBA

I agree, especially considering the luck (or lack thereof) that they've had with console systems
