It's not any big news that FFXI is probably not coming here, at least for the PS2, but is Sony still gonna release the PS2 Hard Drive here? I know FFXI requires one but alot of other games could benefit from an HD. Like new level and such. I'd hate to see such gaming potential staying in Japan.

i hope the ps2 harddrive does come out here (the UK for me) because great games and such just being released in japan pisses me off. i agree that alot of games will be better with one too and most games in the future might require one.

no...SquareEnix confirmed they are doing beta testing for FFXI for both PC and PS2...so expect the hd to come out when that game comes out...

The HD is actually available everywhere but you can only get it bundled with the ps2 linux kit with the exception of japan of course

there really is no use for the ps2 hd now (unless onling gaming grows stronger) its to much space for things that probably wont even fill it like online game patches and upgrades. I mean common 40 gigs! and it wont even probably be used 2 save regular ps2 or ps1 save game files which is quite retarded does anybody remember or know how much hd space the sega saturn had? That was pretty nifty saving games to its internal hd instead of buying these annoying memory cards.

The Saturn didn't have a HDD it had a battery which stored your game save files in it's backup RAM.
