I read in one of my previous magazines and there's rumors going out that there will be another prequel of Grand Theft Auto. The setting will be in the 1970's in Las Vegas. Anybody know more on that?
 :wow: :shy: :shake:    :hehe: :king: :help: :ignore: :stoned: :ranting: :tears:

I've heard speculation about a Grand Theft Auto being a debut game along with the debut next generation system "PS3"

GTA San Andreas or something will come out for PS2.

Set in the 70s etc

A team of 5 coders are working on the ps3 version right now but that will be years away

I think the website name was bought up with GTA San Andreas by one of the bigwigs, think the info's in a thread from ages ago.

I started playing Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City. I never played 1, 2, or London 1969.

But like, how is GTA online fun? I mean exactly what is there to do, what are your objectives as a team or a megadeath match or is it jam packed full of the annoying GTA type mini games

There is a GTA4 being made and San Andreas being made I think.
I read that GTA 4 will be out first in the first quarter of next year and then god knows when San Andreas will be out.

Before GTA3 was out I played and enjoyed the first two games. Thought they were brill in there day. I never thought that GTA would translate into 3D so well but its brill.

I loved GTA 1, but the controls didn't seem so great in number 2. It pissed me off. I was very happy with GTA 3 and Vice City.

The next Grand Theft Auto will be set in San Andreas? The latest EGM said that it'd be set in Las Vegas.

i think the only thing extra they can add to it is online play and trucks where you can ride in the bed and shoot people.....

Zim

they could always introduce gangs to online play were you actaully become a driver for a gang of online people or a hitman or something and go battle the other team till there gang leader is dead or something.

i've played GTA since the first came out. i agree with cube about the controls and they cut out motorbikes in GTA2 which really pissed me off, but other than that the whole series rocks...

I think we should think of what they might add for GTA4... I don't even know what to expect! Also, we should think of what could happen with the online play, like 7im was doing.

I just hope the game is more stable, and the gangs are cool. The gangs in gta3 were awesome, I was afraid to go into the italian area. Vice citys gangs sucked, there was only like 2 of them. I want the option to create a cool gang or join gang, and have the game be a little more open ended,.

Haugs06

I don't think you should be forced to quit a gang. Like, on GTA3, when you got to Staunton, you had to smash the leaders of the Mafia. Now any time you go back to portland, you get STOMPED!

yeah, for online it would be good to start a gang and get members (actual people playing online) and have gang wars and a poker alley or something in the level where everybody can go to sort out gang wars and play poker :D It would be good to build a city aswell, they could add that. Also, face mapping, i'd like to see it in GTA4 coz it would be so cool to see your guy in a cutscene with your face on or play online with your face. (by facemapping i mean get a photo, scan it onto the game and put your face on the guy)

They should also let you customize your characters more, choose clothes and online play should have a microphone too *takes a breath* :)

But those are just my general idea's

My question is will the new PS2 game (san andreas?) be running off the GTA3 engine like Vice City or a new engine? That woul be cool if it did but kinda too much for the devs. I think...
Anyway I've been a loyal fan since GTA 1...

Started with GTA 2, then got 3, then the original with London 1969, then VC. Yes, my timeline's all screwed up. Anyway, all I heard was that it would be a Vegas based setting and would possibly be called "Sin City."

I'd like to see a GTA game in TEH FUTARE!!!1!111!oneoneone!
It'd be pretty interesting to play in flying cars with lasers mounted on them in a city that's, oh, say, 10 miles high, with towers hanging upside-down like in Armitage III. I'd also like to play as multiple characters. Not creating a character by facemapping, but choosing different major characters and seeing the different perspectives they have on the story. Maybe they should include the typical good-cop-gone-bad so you finally have a legitimate excuse to go on Vigilante Missions. The only problem is, the gameplay might have to change drastically to create such a game.

Arthur_Gumby
08-08-2003, 12:44 AM
um.....ok....

btw, if the buildings were hanging upside down, wouldn't the perspective also be upside down, and, in that case, what would be the difference?

It would be cool to fly to Vice City or Liberty City for some missions (go to VC and meet the new don Tommy Vercetti ;) )

The GTA3 engine was perfect, I wouldn't mind if they used it again.

The only thing I would like more is co-op missions, more characters, so your not the super-man.

Haugs06

You could actually probably hijack planes... I wouldn't doubt if that happened.

Oh dear Lord, yes. I hate seeing my supposedly badass mafia guy drown in 10 feet of water.

I really liked GTA Vice City, but it gets a bit irritating at times. Too limited by the doughy cartoon visuals... not that that's bad or anything, ;)

A_Gumby, that's a pretty funny sig, haha. It's so true.

co-op missions would rock... get a multi-tap and get some friends over.

If they add more character it would be better if each character was good at something. Like one at driving, and one at shooting or something. If they did different story lines for each character that would be good.

If you read your Vice City welcome guide you'd know that it's the man-eating sharks that kill Tommy, not drowning ;)

I'm a big fan of the GTA series. I hope it will be better than Vice City and not a clone of it. All I know is I can't wait to play it!

yes, elizabethan, I read the manual, but did you see any sharks? All you see is him flailing around in the water and slowly sinking. Same thing in GTA3, and I don't believe they have many sharks in a NYC knockoff.

Which is why I said "Same thing as in GTA3." I was referring to the Liberty City of GTA3, not Vice City of GTA3: VC

The one thing I had a beef with in the 3D GTA series was gunplay, how long it took you to aim and shoot, how smooth it was, and how auto-aim worked. The PC ports of the 3D GTA's made aiming a hell of a lot better with the mouse...(I haven't played Vice City for PC yet, not even sure if it exists yet, heh)
So I agree with AJs mommy. Get it for PC...I would if I could run it :(

I don't see why so many people are saying forget another remake, and lets get part 4, well the way I see it yeah we don't want to be remaked killed like with capcom fighters or something but in the same sense I do not want GTA4 rushed, and I say I saw the difference the company make between gta3, and vice city, I feel the differences were huge by all means, ground brakeing no, big yes. So I don't see a 70s type vegas or whatever gta coming out hurting the series just only helping it really.

I agree w/ you, The improvements in VC were awesome, I played that one first (3-d wise) and couldn't stand 3 after wards because the changes actually were so major. All they need to fix is a better shooting mechanism, and adding a fighting game style thing for hand to hand would be awesome.

Very true fix the weapons, fighting, add more cars, bikes. Then that alone would be a really excellent eddition. Imagine haveing vf type fighting in the next game. :D I can dream can't I :D .

OH GOD YES INDEED thank you I forgot to mention that I really did get ticked off a bit about dieing in the water even sometimes in not so deep watters, I think it would be intresting to add swiming and being able to go under water so you could have missions with swim gear on for specific water missions, I surely think that would be a winner of addition.

The thing I liked the best about the PC version, is that you can have your own MP3 radio station! Since I don't have a PS2, I am just glad my PC has the hardware to run GTA3. Probably one of the best games ever. I started playing GTA way back when, and never even knew about GTA2 until GTA3 came out. SO I picked up GTA2 for PSX and it sucked... The first one was groundbreaking fun, even though I was always getting lost and crashing, because keyboard controls BLOW! The third one was FRICKIN AWESOME! I can't wait til the price of Vice city goes down about another $25 so I can pick it up too...

I couldn't get into the older ones, the view always gave me a limited view, and I couldn't stand it. The third one made the series into what it should have always been in my opinion.

I was introduced to GTA1 by a school mate and it was great.
The only thing I didnt like , but was addressed in 3 and VC, was the fact that if you failed a mission you could not have another go. Also the save option was only between levels in 1 and in 2 a mid level save cost you a fucking fortune (for those of you who dont know un liek GTA3 and VC, in 1&2 there was more than one map and you progressed to the next map by earning a certain amount of money.
