use Interact HammerheadFX controller w/ MAME

Is this possible? is there some way i can map the buttons on this USB controller to make it work instead of the keyboard? if this isn't possible, more controller support would be great for the next MAME update, or maybe an independent patch.

If you figured it out, then do us all a favor and kill the thread! We don't need any useless clutter on this board.
